I founded Hickson Science Hub because there is a need for true representation, diversity, and inclusion in the sciences, and because I wanted to create a space for fostering future leaders who want to expand their studies. My passion for science comes from how I understand and interpret the world.

I have several influential people in my life, my family, who instilled the value of strength and compassion for others. Professionally, my direct influence is my students; they constantly remind me that I am human and that it is "okay". But as a teacher, I am inspired by other teachers around me, I watch and believe what I see in my colleague's classrooms and ask questions then I apply it to my practice.

I swear by two authors: Paulo Coelho, who I have loved since I was a teenager, and Dr. Brene Brown. Her book ‘Daring Greatly’ is amazing and reminds me that vulnerability is required in order to achieve a true understanding of yourself and others.

We all are teachers and are constant learners; we all are seeking understanding.
